The Terrible Old Man is a traditional graphic adventure based on the short story of the same name written by H.P. Lovecraft. That alone should give you a good inkling as to the setting and general tone of the story.
In The Terrible Old Man you play a man who, along with his two mysterious companions, is having a few beers in a small establishment in Kingsport. By coincidence your character overhears something interesting. Apparently just outside the city lives an old ship captain who's hidden a large treasure in his home. With this information your character and his two friend make a very important decision.
The game system in The Terrible Old Man is traditional for the genre. You can look at all the items in the setting, interact with some of them, and talk with all the characters in the bar. Some have more to say than others, but all have important information on what can happen.
The Terrible Old Man is a short adventure, barely 15 minutes long, that does a great job of adapting the Lovecraft story to the video game format. The puzzles, though few, are logical and well put together. And although at first glance the graphics seem kind of bad, in fact they have a rather disturbing charm that perfectly fits the game.
